While the rest of us mere mortals are busy salivating in advance of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and its November release, Hollywood is looking ahead to other, more important things—like, say, rounding out the cast for the final two films that are being made out of "Mockingjay." And without spoiling too much, let's just say that the revolution has gained another leader: The studio has just announced that Patina Miller is officially on board in the role of Commander Paylor.
Those who've read Suzanne Collins' books will recognize Paylor's name as belonging to the smart, young, authoritative leader who plays a key role in the Districts' uprising, along with...well, some other stuff.
But if you don't know the name of the actress who's playing her, don't be surprised; Patina has never been in a movie before! She's making the jump from stage to screen, having already won rave reviews and the Tony award for her star turn in "Sister Act" on Broadway. Which makes this easily the most interesting transition for an actor joining the "Hunger Games" franchise, unless the studio casts a birthday clown in the role of Katniss Everdeen's bodyguard. WHICH THEY MIGHT.
Are there any roles left in "Mockingjay" that you're still raring to see filled?
