Style Superstar: Serena Williams Goes For the Gold

After her big victory at the U.S. Open, it's not like Serena Williams needed to win anything else this week. But a true champion never rests on her laurels, especially when she's got a reputation as one of her sport's most fashion-forward athletes to defend—which must be why she looked so super-stylin' when she took her trophy out for a spin in Central Park.

As a woman who spends most of her public appearance in spandex, sneakers and sweatbands, Serena tends to go bold, glam and feminine when she's not on the tennis court—and this appearance was no exception. With a pair of peep-toe ankle boots to hide her tennis tan, a big gold belt to accent her waist, flowing locks and flawless makeup, the athlete roundly took Style Superstar honors to go with her U.S. Open win. (Sorry, we don't have a giant shiny trophy for our winners...yet.)

Meanwhile, things took a turn for the frilly when Julianne Hough donned this white lace-and-wool dress for an Estee Lauder fragrance launch party this week...and wow, it's a lot. The long-sleeved Swiss dot overlay and the shiny underskirt and the scalloped lace AND the matte panels with a bow closure at the front: Julianne looks lovely as always, but this overdone dress should've taken Coco Chanel's advice to look in the mirror before leaving the house and take one thing off.

What do you think of this week's fashion picks?
