The actress revealed the news to Ebony: “Of course you’re going to get to see a lot of Taystee in season two [of ‘Orange’], and I just shot an episode of ’Girls’ for HBO. I will be the first Black woman to be on ‘Girls,’ so that’s exciting for me,” she explained about joining Lena Dunham and her crew of motley pals.
In addition to Danielle, it was also recently revealed that rock goddess/Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon will also appear on the next season of the HBO show. They join previously announced guest stars “Zero Hour” actor Amir Arison, “90210” actress Natalie Morales and “Boardwalk Empire” actor Michael Zegen, among others.
One of Lena’s small-screen besties, Allison Williams, recently opened up to MTV News about the show’s next season, teasing a shift in mood from the sometimes-dark season two.
“I think it’s a very funny season. I think it’s pretty lighthearted, but also it’s just the third year in a row you get to see these girls, so I think people have gotten to know us pretty well by now and so you get to see different dimensions of all of us,” she explained.
The third season of “Girls” premieres on HBO in 2014.
