Let’s Talk About That ‘Vampire Diaries’ Threesome…

What happens on the road stays on the road, at least when it comes to the post-graduate adventures Matt and Rebekah are having in Europe following the season four finale of “The Vampire Diaries.” That includes the sexy threesome the two will partake in with the mysterious Nadia (played by Russian actress Olga Fonda) while abroad. Thankfully, we’ll be privy to a glimpse at that love triangle when the show returns to The CW on October 3.

“Not to over-hype something that doesn’t deserve some hyping, but it’s a nice little flash of fun as we recap what happened over the summer while we were on hiatus and the vampires were living their lives,” executive producer Julie Plec told Hollywood Crush of the steamy scenes. “So we get to see a nice little moment, in quotes—define it as you like—where Rebekah and Matt are living life to its fullest in Prague.”

But that “moment” will likely be the last of their romantic relationship, something neither side will be too broken up about. “Matt promised Rebekah at the end of the season that what happens on the road stays on the road,” Julie said. “So they get a great experience and a great adventure, and then when all is said and done and they part, it’s very sweet and a nice button to the time that they had together.” After all, Rebekah’s got to get to New Orleans to join her family (and their spin-off, “The Originals”).

Claire Holt, who plays Rebekah, promised Hollywood Crush that the scene won’t disappoint. “The boys are going to love it; the girls are going to love it; and it was a lot of fun. [Matt and Rebekah] got to explore the world together, and now they’re moving on with their lives,” Claire said. “I think they both realize it was a mutually beneficial relationship and it was going to run its course, and it will. In a sexy, fun way.”

The relationship between Matt and Nadia won’t end in Prague, however. “Interestingly, that won’t be the last we see of the third party. She will find her way to Mystic Falls under mysterious circumstances and with a mysterious agenda, and she will be providing a lot of story conflict and it will be very exciting,” Julie said. But the new lady won’t necessarily be a love interest for our resident human. “I think that in the beginning she’s got a mystery attached to her that brings her into play with Matt a lot, but not necessarily romantically—and then as we move forward we’ll see.”

Meanwhile, Rebekah will head to N’awlins because of “her love of family, her loyalty and her respect for Elijah and his cause and who he is,” Claire said, which “really brings her to mend the relationship with her family.”

It won’t be an easy transition, but Rebekah will eventually make herself at home.

“Rebekah doesn’t have a lot of patience, so she isn’t always the most compassionate when she meets a new person,” Claire said. “But there’s going to be a lot of fun fireworks, that’s for sure.”

Are you sad to hear that Matt and Rebekah won’t be forever?
