Just a day after scoop surfaced that four original "Glee" cast members (Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Harry Shum Jr.) would not be returning as series regulars, came news that five actors have been promoted to fill their shoes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jacob Arist (Jake), Melissa Benoist (Marley), Blake Jenner (Ryder), Alex Newell (Wade a.k.a. Unique) and Becca Tobin (Kitty) have been upped from recurring to series regulars. This comes as "Glee" gears up for production on its fifth season, debuting this fall. The series has already been renewed for season six.
The fifth season of Fox's song-and-dance show will be an interesting one: not only are several once-key cast members departing, but after its initial fall episodes, the series will take a long hiatus until the spring.
