Flaunting a bangin’ new ’do and a cute frock, LC cover July’s Marie Claire, in which she opens up to the magazine about her many, many pursuits (including romance!).
One such labor of love—her roman a clef “The Fame Game”—concludes this week with the release of third novel “Infamous” (out today). Though the series is far from an autobiography, Lauren told Marie Claire that she began writing the thinly veiled tale in order to reveal morsels of her own experience in La La Land.
“I only ever got to tell half of my story,” she said. “People are very quick to judge these days, especially behind the anonymity of a screen name. It’s very easy to say, ‘I hate her, I hate what she wore, she seems mean.’ But you’re only seeing a small fraction of her life.”
But far from letting critics get her down, Lauren smartly realizes a few Negative Nancys will forever be biting at your heels when you live your life in the limelight.
“There is always gonna be a little bit of…negativity, which just comes with the territory,” she explained. “You realize it doesn’t matter. It’s so simple, but it’s a very hard lesson to learn. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really affect you in any way.”
Especially when you have more important things on your mind…like love! Lauren’s been dating boyfriend William Tell for more than a year now and credits their similar upbringings for keeping them close.
“He is very good for me because we have a lot in common as far as where we grew up,” she said. “It’s the first time I’m with someone and I’m not explaining things. He also has experience in the entertainment industry, so he understands a lot of things that people don’t always get.”
