Saoirse Ronan, Alexis Bledel Break Out The Big Guns In 'Violet & Daisy' Trailer

Whoa, whoa, whooooa. Did we just spot Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan as a pair of gun-toting, patty-cake-playing, best-friends-forever assassins? Because that is awesome. (And yes, yes we did.)

The trailer for "Violet & Daisy," which made its premiere two years ago at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, is now on the internet as the film finally eyes a widespread June release—and this one looks beyond buzzworthy, with smart writing and imaginative visual flair and a great girly bond at the heart of it.

Alexis and Saoirse star as the titular hitwomen, who find themselves questioning their trigger-happy lives when a target (James Gandolfini) turns out to be more than a quick hit and run. Is it a test of their loyalties? A personal grudge? A table-turning attempt to assassinate the assassins themselves? Mysteries! And the trailer, with its non-linear narrative and peculiar visual flourishes (read: why is Saoirse dressed as a retro flight attendant in a snowy woodland setting?), is high on intrigue and low on spoilery explanations. But with not so long to wait for the chance to see it in toto, we could do worse than spending the month of May waiting for the theatrical release and going, "Hmmmmm!"

"Violet & Daisy" hits theaters June 7.
