Although Seth Rogen started his career with a few extra pounds, he’s slimmed his cuddly frame down to something slightly more athletic as he’s taken on physical roles in films like “The Green Hornet.” But when pressed to pick a favorite among the nominees in the MTV Movie Awards’ hotly contested Best Shirtless Performance category, Seth admitted he was out of his league when it came to “Magic Mike” star Channing Tatum.
“What is that muscle?” Seth asked when shown a picture of Channing in a bow tie and nothing else. “I’ve literally never seen that muscle.”
Seth, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and Evan Goldberg joined Josh Horowitz on the first night of Sneak Peek Week, MTV’s week-long lead-up to Sunday night’s Movie Awards. Josh quizzed the cast about who should win Best Shirtless Performance in an exclusive chat following a screening of the quartet’s upcoming film “This Is The End.”
Despite—or maybe because of—his incredulity at Channing’s chiseled physique, Seth handily chose the actor as the category’s undisputed winner. “I would vote for Channing, honestly,” he said. “I mean, that’s crazy that he looks like that.”
Running down a list of the other candidates, Seth offered predictably quick-witted judgments about their bodies. Though he dismissed “The Dark Knight Rises” star Christian Bale out of hand. “Compared to Channing? Jesus. Come on,” he said.
Seth admired “Skyfall” star Daniel Craig’s body, but not the part you’re thinking. “His package looks good in that picture,” Seth observed as he looked at a photo of Daniel in a barely-there swimsuit that covered his, well, bathing suit area and not much else. “It’s catching the light—it’s actually protruding to the point that it’s casting a shadow.”
Seth and his co-stars had nothing to say about Ted, the furry star of last summer’s blockbuster comedy co-starring Mark Wahlberg. And he was equally dismissive of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” star Taylor Lautner, the final nominee in the Best Shirtless Performance category.
“I literally have no idea who that guy is,” Seth insisted.
Tune in Sunday night at 9 p.m. to watch the “This Is the End” gang hand out the award for Best Shirtless Performance at the MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Rebel Wilson.
