5 Things You Never Knew About Movie Awards Host Rebel Wilson

You already know that Rebel Wilson is a gifted thespian, a vocal dynamo and the funniest woman ever to be hit with a projectile burrito on the big screen. But with only a few days to go before the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, we think it’s time to go beyond the ordinary limits of Rebel Wilson-related coverage and delve deeper, into the mystery wrapped in an enigma that is Rebel, the better to understand the source of her amazingness. So today, we’re exploring five strange, secret or otherwise-overlooked facts about our starring host. For instance! Did you know that…

1. Rebel isn’t some made-up stage name.
She’s just got extremely creative parents. (Case in point: her siblings are Liberty, Ryot and Annachi.)

2. She has complicated feelings about beagles.
Growing up in a family of professional dog handlers, Rebel admitted that she developed a minor complex over the 20 or so beagles she lived with getting all the attention.

3. The source of her acting inspiration: MALARIA!
Rebel decided to pursue a career on screen after contracting malaria in rural Mozambique, during which she had hallucination that she was on stage, receiving an Academy Award, and rapping her way through her acceptance speech.

4. Speaking of which: her lesser-known talents include rapping.
No further explanation needed, but this video of Rebel and Ellen DeGeneres performing Salt-n-Pepa’s “Shoop” is a thing of beauty.

5. She’s branching out into fashion.
Like many up-and-coming starlets, Rebel has taken the opportunity to launch her own branded line of clothing. (Unlike many up-and-coming starlets, her fashion line is a collection of T-shirts with baked goods emblazoned across the boob region.)

Will Jennifer Lawrence get her silver lining in the form of a Golden Popcorn? Which beefcake will sizzle in our brand-new Best Shirtless Performance category?
