'Hunger Games' Star Willow Shields Talks About Growing Up With Prim

Ooooooooh! You guys, shhhh! Be very quiet, don't make any sudden movements, and slowly (slowly!) look toward this video clip: We've just captured some rare footage of the elusive Willow Shields in the wild! The girl who plays Primrose Everdeen (sister of Katniss) in "The Hunger Games" franchise was kicking around at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, which meant an opportunity to chase her down and catch ourselves up on where she's at with the dystopian films.

As it turns out, she's on a break again having wrapped up her role a couple months ago—and unfortunately, she couldn't share any gossip on everyone's favorite hot topic, the illustrious Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair. (Her character doesn't leave District 12 until book three, which means she won't be meeting any of the Quarter Quell tributes on-set until "Mockingjay" starts filming.) But she did have something to say about Prim herself, and what we can expect to see when "Catching Fire" comes out later this year.

"She's become a little bit older and more sophisticated," Willow said of her character, who's evolution from innocent girl to reluctant revolutionary is a key point in the books. "But she's still Prim, which is good!"

And for the actress, it's not hard to pull inspiration from her own life to inform her performance as Prim; actually, the filming schedule has worked out so that she's aging at almost exactly the same pace as her on-screen persona.

She explained, "I'm growing up with that character. I'm almost 13 now, and she's growing up too, so it works."

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" hits theaters November 22, 2013.

Are you raring to see Willow back on-screen as Prim in "Catching Fire"?
