Nick Jonas is ready for his close-up, again. The 20-year-old has announced (and Hyde Park/Troika Pictures has confirmed) that he will join Isabel Lucas in the new thriller "Careful What You Wish For."
The actor/singer, who is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers and prepping for a 2013 album release with the group, shared the movie news on Monday, tweeting, "Excited to announce that I'm joining cast of the movie, Careful What You Wish For."
And, it sounds to us that Nick is ready to grow up in a big way in the flick. The film revolves around Doug (played by Nick) Lena (played by Isabel) who start up an affair. But, it turns deadly. After her investment banker hubby turns up dead, everyone ends up being a suspect. Um, not our Nick! We hope! The film will begin shooting this April in North Carolina with Elizabeth Allen (“Aquamarine,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “Life Unexpected”) directing.
Nick is certainly no stranger to the acting game. In addition to his work in musical theater, he starred in his own Disney show with his brothers, “Jonas,” as well as two “Camp Rock” flicks. He’s also made appearances on shows like “Smash,” “Mr. Sunshine” and “Last Man Standing.”
So, while he certainly isn’t a newbie, in an interview with MTV News in February 2011, Nick made it clear that he doesn’t actually “consider himself an actor” either.
"I think with anything, it helps to have a couple of experiences under your belt before you go and do something like a cameo or something like that," he said. "We were able to do a couple seasons of the TV show for Disney Channel and then two movies for them as well, so I've done some acting. But I would never really consider myself an actor.
"However, I do really enjoy it," he continued. "And when the right roles come up and when it's something I feel like I can contribute to in some way, I like doing it."
Jonas fans should get really excited. In addition to his starring role in the thriller, Nick and the brothers Jonas will drop their new single “Pom Poms,” in the very, very near future. Now, there’s lot of news we can cheer for.
