'The Selection' Has Its Queen

Citizens of Illea: Bow to your Queen.

Deadline is reporting that The CW's revamped "Selection" pilot has crowned its newest monarch. British actress Louise Lombard, who you might recognize from "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," will play regal Queen Amberly in the dystopian series, based on Kiera Cass' debut novel.

Set in a war-torn nation formerly known as the United States, "The Selection" follows teen America Singer (played by Yael Grobglas) as she competes against 34 girls from various castes for the affections of sheltered Prince Maxon (played by Michael Malarkey) and the title of Princess. (As well as follow in the footsteps of Queen Amberly, who gained her own royal appointment through the same "Bachelor"-style competition.)

The pretty blonde actress joins an ever-growing ensemble cast, which in addition to Yael and Michael, includes Anthony Head as King Clarkson, Lucien Laviscount as Aspen and Celia Massingham and Sarah Winter as contestants Celeste and Ashley.

Meanwhile, the second book in Kiera's "Selection" series, "The Elite," hits bookstores on April 23.
