Alden Ehrenreich Is One Of The 'Beautiful Creatures' And A Hump Day Hottie

There’s a reason Alden Ehrenreich was cast as the lead in this week’s supernatural love story "Beautiful Creatures." Have you seen him?! He is a pretty beautiful creature, indeed. And he’s also this week’s Hump Day Hottie.

Check out this dreamy photo of Alden, and keep reading for more details about him!

Vital stats: This 23-year-old grew up in sunny L.A. before he headed off to the Big Apple to study theater at New York University. He also started the theatre and film company, The Collectin.

Somewhere in between, he was discovered by Steven Spielberg, at age 14, after he made a video for his friend's bat mitzvah, which the famed director was attending. (Disclosure: "It's not on the internet. It's somewhere in a cabinet in my house," Alden revealed, dashing all our hopes and dreams. "It's very funny. I've gotta find it. I don't even know where it is right now!")

Where you might have already seen him: While we hold our breath until the day that video does get released, you can catch Alden in previous projects like Francis Ford Coppola's "Tetro," as well as roles in “Supernatural” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

Why you should take notice of him now: This week Alden stars as dreamy Ethan Wate in “Beautiful Creatures,” out Thursday. And, yes, he too initially thought it might have too much in common with “Twilight.” That misconception had him saying “no” to the part of the mortal who falls for the be-witching Lena (played by Alice Englert). But, then he changed his mind.

"We got a breakdown for the film, which didn't sound like its own movie," Alden said. "But when I read the script, I was pleasantly surprised to find that [writer/director] Richard LaGravenese had taken the story and made a personal film. That's what's important to me—although this is a genre film and although it uses certain conventions, Richard really infused it with his personal voice. And luckily I was still available, I got the part, parachuted into New Orleans that same day. It was really a whirlwind."

Consider us lucky he reconsidered. He’ll be seen next in “Stoker,” “Running Wild” and Woody Allen’s next project “Blue Jasmine.” Not too shabby.

Until next week, when we choose another Hump Day Hottie, you can salute Alden by gawking at the photo above!
