Director Jon Chu ‘Matched’ With Ally Condie Adaptation

Better ready your green silk gown, Cassia: the Matching Banquet is inching ever nearer.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” director Jon Chu is in negotiations to helm the big-screen adaptation of Ally Condie’s dystopian novel, set in a future where major life decisions (including whom you marry and when you die) are dictated by the not-so-benevolent Society.

Jon’s potential involvement is the first bit of “Matched” news we’ve had since last September, when word on the street was that “Eclipse” helmer David Slade was in talks to direct the initial installment. (The “Matched” trilogy includes sequels “Crossed” and “Reached.”) Apparently, those discussions came to nothing.

I, for one, am curious to learn more about Jon’s vision for the futuristic tale, seeing as it’s very unlike his previous projects, which include “Step Up 3D” and “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.”

What do you think about Jon Chu directing “Matched”? Is he, well, a good match? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!
