Let the squealing and hyperventilating begin: “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” teaser trailer landed this morning in an explosion of red-eyed, sparkly skinned, multi-vampire-coven awesomeness, giving fans a long-awaited peek at what’s in store for Edward, Bella and the rest of the Cullen clan in the final chapter of the “Twilight” saga. Namely: Bella is a vampire, Renesmee is growing at 10 times the rate of a normal child and the Volturi are coming to murder them all!
The trailer starts out by giving us the full-scale action shot of Vampire Bella (thank you! finally!), whose new activities as a member of the undead include cuddling with Edward, having a friendly reunion with Jacob and running through the forest at 100 miles per hour while wearing a really pretty dress. (Whatever, she’s a vampire, and high-fashion hunting is how it’s done, y’all.)
But her blissful newborn existence won’t last long; thanks to their Denali cousin, the Cullens are in deep trouble with the vengeful Volturi for creating an Immortal Child. Oh, those Denali! Always jumping to conclusions and inciting a civil war! Of course, this little problem could be solved with five minutes and an album of the rapidly developing Renesmee’s baby pictures…but since no “Twilight” film would be complete without an epic clash between warring vamps—and since, apparently, the Volturi are so eager to start the murdering that they can’t just sit down for a reasonable conversation—we see Edward gathering the other covens together for a final battle with the angry ancients.
What we don’t see? RENESMEE. Or at least, we don’t see her in any satisfactory way; the Cullen kid is only shown in the briefest of moments, and either from the back or largely obscured by blankets. Always with the blankets! Blargh! So, that’s disappointing! But it just gives us all something to look forward to whenever we get our next glimpse of “Breaking Dawn.” Which had better be soon. Please. Thank you.
