Since “Vampire Diaries” star Kat Graham is MTV’s Special Style Correspondent on the 2012 MTV Movie Awards red carpet, it goes without saying that she has to set the standard for Movie Awards fashion. MTV News had the pleasure of joining her during a fitting for her red carpet dress, where she talked all about her responsibilities for the night.
“No pressure! I just have to be very familiar with the designers and the artists and everyone nominated,” she said. “It’s slightly terrifying, but it’s going to be really fun.”
Kat tried on two dresses during her fitting, telling us that she wants to wear “something that was different” from what everyone else has so she’ll “set a standard.” The first dress she tried on was a long-sleeved, floor-length black gown with colored beads and a see-through skirt.
“I like it. It’s funky and slightly tame, I think, for me. The feathers are fun and it’s definitely good if you are bored and you want to play around with your outfit, gives you something to do,” she said. “But it might be a little too much.”
The second one definitely could not be described as tame. The multi-colored gladiator-style dress was also floor-length with a sheer skirt, but had some intense armored shoulders that looked so dangerous they put Kristen Stewart to shame.
“I don’t know. You think the armor shoulders are too much? You never know if somebody’s going to attack your shoulders. You have to be ready—anything can happen at the Movie Awards,” she said. “This is not going to work.”
Though she probably won’t wear either of the frocks during the Movie Awards, we definitely got a sense of Kat’s style this year. Both dresses she tried on were long, dark and sleek, with a bit of pizazz that we’ve come to expect from her. And it looks like sheer, floor-length skirts are definitely in this year. Hopefully celebs like KStew and Emma Stone got a glimpse of this video before they went to their own fittings, because now the pressure is on for who will be best dressed on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet.
