Picture Kellan Lutz swinging shirtless from a vine in a loincloth. His 18-pack glistening in the sun as he lifts you off the ground for an adventure through the jungle. No, we're not in the midst of writing a "Fifty Shades of Grey"-esque ode to Emmett Cullen (although maybe it was a daydream once)—it's Kellan's next movie!
The "Twilight" hunk has landed the title role in Constantin Film's "Tarzan." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will update the classic character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs with a script penned by Yoni Brenner, Jessica Postigo and Reinhard Klooss.
"For example, Tarzan's parents, billionaire adventurers, are now killed in [an] airplane crash rather than being marooned with their child," THR writes about the story change. The villain—who is depicted in the animated Disney film as a greedy gorilla hunter—is now the CEO of Greystokes Energies, the man who replaces Tarzan's parents as head of the company after they're killed.
The lucky lady playing opposite Kellan as Jane is Spencer Locke, who's currently starring in the indie drama "Detention" alongside "Hunger Games" hottie Josh Hutcherson. In the film, Jane has now gone green as an African guide's daughter committed to preserving the continent's jungle.
The movie is a motion capture 3-D production, which basically means it will be filmed in the same style as "Lord of the Rings"' Gollum—only the outcome will be waaaaay sexier. And technically we'll only see a CGI version of Kellan shirtless, but this already beats the cartoon hero of our childhood dreams 10-fold.
