Let's just get this out of the way: Yes, there is a musical theatre parody of "Twilight" coming to the New World Stage in NYC...and yes, we are totally into it. After all, with "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" behind us and a whole year-ish until the final film gets released, the enthusiastic fans of all things Edward and Bella need some way to get their fix! And hey, just because we love something, that doesn't mean we can't poke a teensy bit of fun at it, right?
Oh, come on. YES WE CAN.
And fun really is the operative word: According to Playbill, the one-night-only performance of "Twilight: The Musical" features a host of talented actors (including a few veterans from the also-fabulous spoof production of "A Very Potter Musical"), and a hit soundtrack of songs like "Life Sucks When Your Boyfriend Is A Vampire," “Death Never Sounded So Good” and “I Imprinted on an Infant." Plus, apparent cameo appearances by characters from "Harry Potter"! And before any of you more hard-core fans get all angsty and offended about someone spoofing the most Epic Vampire Love Story of All Time, let's note that it's all for a good cause: Proceeds from the performance will go straight to a charity that helps feed impoverished families.
A sense of humor, a philanthropic goal and some Cullen family drama? We give it a standing ovation!
