When it comes to our No. 4 pick for most-anticipated flicks of 2012, there shouldn't be any surprise about the selection. After all, it's no secret that the Hollywood Crush staff has a well honed, highly enthusiastic appreciation for the finer, er, points of the male beast...all of which will be on, ahem, full display in this edgy, envelope-pushing drama starring the infinitely ogle-able Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Joe Manganiello.
Yes, we're talking about "Magic Mike."
And yes, just to be clear, we're talking about a whole lotta hot naked man-meat.
"Magic Mike" is the story of a newbie to the male stripping scene and the friendship he forms with a more experienced dancer who takes him under his wing—and with its based-on-a-true-story street cred (the script riffs on the real-life experiences of a 19-year-old Channing Tatum, whose pre-celebrity days included a stint at a strip club) and one heck of a director on board (the inimitable Steven Soderbergh, he of the "Oceans" heist movies), our interest was instantly piqued.
But while the excitement began way back in May, when the news first came down that this movie was being made—and that Alex Pettyfer had signed on to play the young ingenue to Channing Tatum's club veteran—the ensuing months have ramped it up in a big way. Each subsequent casting announcement or missive from the set (including the just-released first still) had only added fuel to the fire, until our feelings about this movie became less a matter of simple anticipation, and more like a red-hot juggernaut of lust rolling downhill at approximately one million miles per hour. Because ladies (and interested gentlemen!), we've got Matthew McConaughey! We've got Joe Manganiello! We've got Matt Bomer!
And, of course, we have multiple, confirmed reports that this miracle of modern cinema contains copious amounts of nudity among its cast of hardbodied hotties. Joe himself even admitted that "Magic Mike" rivals "True Blood" for naked screentime—and considering that he's playing the role of, and we swear we are not making this up, Big Dick Richie, no doubt the viewing audience is going to get an eyeful...making this film a shoo-in for the No. 4 spot on our list of must-see films for 2012.
