‘Hunger Games': Peek Covers Of ‘Illustrated Movie Companion,’ ‘Tribute Guide’

Christmas is still 24 days away, but the fine folks at Scholastic have gifted Hollywood Crush with two sneak peeks that will undoubtedly leave “Hunger Games” fans in a festive mood: the covers of “The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion” and “The Hunger Games Tribute Guide” (both due February 7, 2012)!

The works are part of the publishing house’s extensive movie tie-in program, which also includes “The Hunger Games: Movie Tie-In Edition” (our friends at TheFABlife have that cover for you) and “The World of The Hunger Games” (to be released the same day as the film, March 23).

What’s nifty about the “Official Illustrated Movie Companion” (besides all of the behind-the scenes scoop on casting, screenwriting, costuming and more) is that this cover gives us another new look at the film’s three leads: Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale), plus a hazy sneak peek at what District 12’s mining community might look like. Very cool!

The “Tribute Guide,” on the other hand, is a comprehensive snapshot of the 24 tributes from the 74th annual Hunger Games. According to a press release from Scholastic, the title follows “the Tributes’ journey from the Reaping to the Games, with a look at all the highlights along the way—the Tribute Parade, the stations of the Training Center, the interviews, and more. The book will include exclusive information about the Tributes’ strengths and weaknesses, their weapons of choice, and their experience in the Capitol before entering the arena.” This cover features Katniss, Peeta, Cato (Alexander Ludwig) and Rue (Amandla Stenberg).

These books will no doubt be required reading for any starving “Hunger Games” fan and promise even more insight into the world Suzanne Collins so masterfully crafted. We can’t wait!
