Stephenie Meyer's 'Host' Hones In On Male Leads: Who's Your Pick?

This is one alien invasion we're embracing with open arms.

News from the big-screen adaptation of "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's other project,"The Host," has been slow in coming, but it looks like two of our most anticipated book-to-movie casting announcements are on the horizon.

Variety is reporting that a slew of young men are reading for the roles of Jared and Ian, the two loves of main characters Melanie and Wanderer. As you may recall, 17-year-old Saoirse Ronan has already been cast as the dual lead.

The report indicates that Liam Hemsworth, Kit Harington ("Game of Thrones"), Jai Courtney ("One Shot") and Max Irons ("Red Riding Hood") are testing for Jared, while Dane DeHaan ("True Blood"), Thomas McDonnell ("Prom"), Augustus Prew ("Charlie St. Cloud") and Jake Abel (Saoirse's co-star in "The Lovely Bones") are testing for Ian.

As a refresher, both men are described as tall and handsome, while Jared is tan with tawny-colored hair and Ian has dark hair and luminous blue eyes.

As far as Jared is concerned, my vote would go to Liam if he weren't already playing Gale in "The Hunger Games." Sure, he could star in both adaptations, but that might just get a bit confusing, no? Therefore my runner-up vote goes to the always adorable Max. We need more of that man in the cinema.

I'm not, however, so confident about my vote for Ian. Methinks that Mr. Harington should actually try out for the role of Wanderer's protector seeing as he has the requisite dark hair and kind eyes. Get the guy some blue contact lenses and we're in business. Among the men reportedly auditioning, it's a close race between Augustus and Jake (coupled with a bottle of Clairol hair dye, of course).

What do you think, Crushers? Who do you think would be best as Jared and Ian? Cast your vote in the polls below!
