…Albeit an articulate and down-to-earth girl with a real, highly developed capacity for shenanigans; after all, she is posing in the November issue of Seventeen magazine wearing fuzzy knickers and a pair of pandas on her feet.
But when it comes to her interview, Heather’s not afraid to show her serious side—and between posing for fun photos, she also shares the ways that a personal tragedy shaped her life.
Heather lost her father when she was just 14, telling the magazine, “It made me grow up in a different way. My mom and I are really close because of it, so I’m glad I have a good relationship with her, but I definitely went through a lot of phases. At times, I didn’t care at all and I went to school in my pajamas and I cried.” But she added that there was solace in the grieving process, especially when it allowed her to refocus on the things that mattered most to her: “I cut it out and I focused on my dancing. I was in dance class all the time.”
The obvious silver lining: the skills she developed as a dancer have come in highly useful for her energetic performance on “Glee.” And when it comes to getting inspired for her role, she’s clearly committed to really nailing it—including getting some real-life experience with girl-on-girl smooching. Did Heather lock lips with any ladies to prepare for her role?
“Yeah. Mostly for guys’ attention when I was in high school,” she said.
And then, in a line that’s pure Brittany Pierce: “One time I did it when I was curious with a friend. But she wasn’t my best friend.”
Okay, raise your hand if you want to know what Heather did with her best friend. (No, she doesn’t say. But raise your hand anyway.)
