New York Fashion Week is officially a wrap! All week long, we’ve been giving you guys a front-row seat to all the hottest shows, telling you what will be in style this Spring and handing you a backstage pass to hear from all the biggest designers! Now even though Spring feels so far away, it’s always good to keep ahead of the trends. So what will all you fashionistas be wearing? Anything with color: neons, blues, yellows — if it’s bright, wear it!
“The clothes are very romantic, but very useful, very wearable,” designer Tracy Reese told us backstage. “A lot of great color, brights, hot pinks, neons, beautiful blues, but the whole range from a sweet misty blue to a dark strong peacock, pops of yellow and pretty neutrals to balance the whole thing out.”
Now if you aren’t into really bright colors, you can always take a look at Charlotte Ronson’s line, which tones down the color, but turns up the retro feel.
“It actually first started off being more Victorian; lots of light sheer dresses and covered buttons and high necklines,” Charlotte said of her line. “It always falls into more of a Boho, ’70s feel, but then each season we also add a little more grunge factor and that comes in more with button-downs and pajama pants and patchwork denim and the crop tops and things like that.”
Now, with a great outfit, you’re going to need a great new purse, so why not check out Rebecca Minkoff, whose bold, bright and beautiful bags are going to be flying off the shelves come spring.
“You’re gonna see a lot of bright colors,” Rebecca said of her new collection of purses. “Studded bags, textured bags, a lot of faux snake, faux crocodile elements as well.”
Yet, if none of this is your style, I’d suggest checking out Betsey Johnson’s Spring 2012 line, where she compiled all of her signature styles — leopard, sequins, ruffles and lace — into one funky, bright and inspired collection.
“[The line] is from beautiful to punky to funky to pastel to bright, any old thing is right,” Betsey gushed. “It’s how you wear your body in your outfit.”
