Taylor Lautner To Play David Opposite Dwayne Johnson's Goliath?

Quick, call Michelangelo! His sculpture needs a few...revisions.

In Casting News We Never Imagined Writing, The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner has been offered the role of Biblical rock-slinger David opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's giant Goliath in a film titled—wait for it—"Goliath."

The project's being described as "a period action movie made with contemporary sensibilities but based on the Biblical tale." So basically "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Times," based on the Good Book instead of a video game?

"Goliath" is being produced by the same folks behind "Twilight" (Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen), so it's not surprising they'd look to the rising star they helped create to headline this sword and sandals saga.

Negotiations are still in the very earliest of stages, so nothing's for sure yet, but we'd definitely welcome watching Taylor in a toga for a couple of hours. Just sayin'.
