With a long eight months to go before the release of the “Hunger Games” movie, rabid fans of the dystopian series are hungry for any info about the upcoming film. But while it’s too early for a trailer—or even a teaser—the studio has tossed us an early bone! Yahoo’s Movie Talk blog has a first look at the exciting animated “motion poster,” which offers a glimpse of the dark and deadly aesthetic we can expect when the Games come to the big screen.
The poster starts out dominated by a basic black background festooned with the name of the movie—but wait! A spark at the corner suddenly ignites, and what started out as a boring one-sheet suddenly becomes a gleaming gold Mockingjay pin, wreathed in a ring of hot, flamey fire. OOOOOOOH. We like! Just don’t try to tack it on your wall; those flames look deadly.
The film, which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, hits theaters March 23, 2012. (You can also download a nifty countdown widget from “The Hunger Games”’ official website.)
