For the esteemed readers here who are not clamoring to see this weekend's likely comic book movie blockbuster that is "Thor," I get it. The spoiled rich kid/wannabe king thing plus lifting/throwing of heavy objects that they're selling in the trailers is not doing it for me. What DOES work, however, is pretty star Chris Hemsworth and supporting players Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings and Jaimie Alexander. They are great fun to watch, I promise.
Speaking of fun to watch, MTV News discovered an amazing gem in Chris' past: his stint on the Australian version of "Dancing With the Stars!" When we caught up with the brawny Aussie recently, we presented him with a clip from the show to get a few comments about the experience.
"Here it is! The samba," Chris exclaimed when we queued up the clip. "This is the Australian version of 'Dancing With the Stars.'"
When asked how the heck he ended up on the show, he said he thought it would be all in good fun.
"You know, I thought I could dance," he said. "I thought it would be good for my life experience."
"Well, I learned I couldn’t dance, so it wasn’t quite as good as it could have been," he admitted before commenting on a particularly impressive part of his samba.
"That’s a good shot, that’s a knee slide, straight out of 'Dirty Dancing,'" he said.
Chris later admitted that he didn't think anyone outside Australia would ever see him on the show.
"It was one of those things, I thought 'I’ll do this in Australia, no one will know. It’s cool,' the internet, I forgot about that big beast," he said, referring to the dozens of YouTube clips that now exist of his performances.
He went on to say that sadly, that will be his only foray into the world of ballroom dancing, but he's been known to bust a move or two after a couple beers.
What do you think of Chris' sting on "Dancing With the Stars?" Yay or nay? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter!
