The “Twilight” boys are not making our lives easy.
You see, Crushers, we ran into a problem with Robert Pattinson just a few weeks ago. In anticipation for his live special “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” we had to narrow down our favorite RPattz moments. The only problem was, there were far too many to choose from. Turns out, “all of them” was not a viable option. So after some major negotiations—and okay, a few tears—we picked our Top 5.
Yet, somehow, here we are again faced with a nearly impossible task! To build up to his “MTV First” special, we must now attempt to pick our five all-time favorite Taylor Lautner MTV moments. And, let’s be honest, the “Abduction” star (and his abs) has given us some really good ones over the years.
We’re going to be counting down our favorite Team Taylor moments in anticipation of “MTV First: Taylor Lautner” and his new flick “Abduction,” starting with the No. 5 moment in which Taylor has a crazy encounter with Tom Cruise. Well, not exactly Tom Cruise….
In 2008 we were introduced to one of the most off-the-wall characters in quite sometime: Les Grossman. Played by an almost unrecognizable Tom Cruise in the comedy “Tropic Thunder,” Les was a sketchy Hollywood honcho, who just so happened to have an affinity for dancing to Flo Rida’s song “Low.”
Despite all this, Les made quite the impression on the industry and stayed something of a fixture. In fact, in 2010 MTV recruited him to help out with the MTV Movie Awards. In a series of ads leading up to the big show, Les crossed paths with some of the biggest names and nominees. One of which included—you guessed it—Taylor Lautner.
When Taylor, who was up for Global Superstar, Best Male Performance (“New Moon“) and Best Kiss (with ex Taylor Swift for “Valentine’s Day“) last year, told the short-tempered Les he couldn’t attend due to prior obligations, the faux mogul came up with a plan. In Taylor’s place he would send a body double….who looked nothing—and we mean nothing—like Taylor.
Taylor looked over in disbelief when Les sent in a boozy, schlubby guy in a tux. As the star pointed out, quite accurately, “No one’s gonna believe this is me.”
While Les pretended that he couldn’t tell “which Taylor said that,” things still got patched up rather quickly after he sent Taylor’s stunt double away.
In the ultimate gesture, Les and Taylor pounded it out. And the rest is MTV Movie Awards History.
