Elizabeth Taylor’s Influential Style: From Kim Kardashian To Angelina Jolie

Elizabeth Taylor’s sultry style and her love for incredible jewelry has remained one of the most influential factors in modern red carpet style, with today’s A-listers gracing some of Hollywood’s biggest events donning looks that Elizabeth could have worn in her heyday. As the world mourns the loss of the Hollywood icon, the fashion community also bids farewell to one of its greatest innovators.

Known for her glittering, glamorous life and her equally glittering and glamorous fashions, Taylor loved Grecian-cut gowns, sexy pencil-cut dresses and diamonds—of all colors, shapes and sizes.

Her ongoing affect on celebrity style is evident when celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie step out on a red carpet. Jennifer Lopez looked Liz Taylor-esque at the 2007 Oscars when she graced the event in a soft, heavily jeweled Marchesa gown. She took the homage one step further thanks to a bob done up in soft curls.

Kim Kardashian also wore Marchesa at the 2010 Emmys. The white, body hugging Grecian gown paired with—what else?—diamonds, definitely was a modern take on Taylor’s signature style. Similarly, Eva Longoria went all Liz at the 2005 Emmy Awards in a peach-colored Angel Sanchez. The jeweled neckline was certainly a fashion look that Elizabeth made popular.

The bouffant, those amazing emerald earrings and that innate glamor certainly had everyone going crazy when Angelina Jolie attended the 2009 Oscars. Not only was the style reminiscent of Elizabeth, but Angelina’s sensuality mirrors that of the screen legend’s. In Marc Jacobs’ glittering, bohemian cut silver gown, Nicole Richie put a modern twist on Taylor’s style at the “American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity” Costume in 2010.
