Oscars 2011 Red Carpet: Hailee Steinfeld Reveals She's Talked With 'Hunger Games' Director Gary Ross

"True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld (easily my fave young Hollywood newcomer this year) may not have brought home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, but she was happy to dish on her post-ceremony career plans—which, if you're a fangirl of YA dystopian lit, might be even more exciting than Hailee being nominated for a gold statuette.

After much speculation (including reports Hailee had previously met with "Hunger Games" producer Nina Jacobson), she confirmed that she has met with director Gary Ross to discuss the much-coveted role of Katniss Everdeen. And while nothing's official, she did say that she's very much still in the running:

"It's definitely something that we're taking one day at a time and making sure that everything is in place," she explained.

Hailee is one of several young actresses, including Kaya Scodelario, Chloe Moretz, Malese Jow and Lyndsy Fonseca, vying for the role. (Have you voted for your fave yet?)

Hopefully we'll know soon who will enter the Hunger Games arena seeing as the film is slated to begin production in a few months!
