Abigail Breslin Says 'Hunger Games' Role Would Be 'Great'

Until Lionsgate, Gary Ross and Co. end all this speculating, we're just going to keep talking about who should be in "The Hunger Games" movie. If you've been following along at home, the most recent installments have featured possible cast member Alex Pettyfer, who was rumored to be in consideration to play Peeta Mellark. Even though he told us he has yet to make a decision between "Games" and "The Mortal Instruments," we think his involvement in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' brilliant book is a stretch.

Honestly, since we haven't heard anything official from the studio, everyone in consideration is a stretch at this point. No matter! We'll still harass as many actors about it as possible. The latest to get the "MTV News Hunger Games Grilling" is young and talented actress Abigail Breslin. The last time we checked in with her, she was just getting into the books, and it seems she's made good progress, telling us she's now a big fan of the series.

"I think it’s an amazing book. I’m a huge fan of the books," she said. "It’s amazing, obviously it would be great [to be in the film]," she added.

We then asked her if, considering the fact that Suzanne's books are full of a bunch of great characters, which one is her favorite.

"Obviously Katniss," Abigail said. "All the characters in the books are amazing. It’s a very cool book," she said. "The characters in it are very strong and very cool. It’s an amazing series."

So there you have it: more love for "The Hunger Games," and no real news from yet another young actress. Although Abigail is about to turn 15 and is definitely way past her days of all sweetness and innocence in films like "Signs" and "Little Miss Sunshine," in my opinion she might be too old for Prim now, but definitely has the acting chops for another character.

What do you think of Abigail in "The Hunger Games?" What would be a good role for her? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter!
