Emma Roberts may not have made the shortlist of actresses included in our recent “Who should play Katniss?” poll, but that doesn’t mean the 19-year-old “Scream 4” star doesn’t have a loyal fanbase hoping to see her wield a bow and arrow in the upcoming film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” So when we spoke with Emma at the Sundance Film Festival, where she was promoting her high school romance “Homework,” we had to ask if she was a fan of the dystopian series.
“I’m the only human being on the face of the planet who hasn’t read ’The Hunger Games,'” she said. “I own them; I just haven’t read them. I hear it’s really awesome. I mean, all of my friends are like, ’Go home and read it now.’ So I have to read it.”
We know of at least one other starlet who has yet to take a trip to Panem, but that’s really no excuse, Emma. Cave to the peer pressure! You won’t regret it.
Though she hasn’t come down with a case of “Hunger Games” fever, Emma is familiar with the film project. When asked by our own Josh Horowitz if she’s been approached about the role, Emma responded, “I’ve heard about it. But yeah, no details. We’ll see.”
And just an FYI for casting director Debra Zane: Emma added that her schedule is wide open.
