The scorned, man-hating female archetype is nothing new in cinema, but we knew from the minute Eva Green ("Casino Royale") uttered the line, "I usually pick a--holes," in this EXCLUSIVE trailer for "Perfect Sense," that Eva's Susan isn't your typical flighty, rom-com hero. Because, really, who can't relate to going for the wrong guy—over and over and over again?
Eva stars alongside the always-endearing Ewan McGregor in this romantic drama from director David Mackenzie, which makes its debut at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Eva plays a scientist too busy trying to answer life's big questions to maintain any sort of romantic relationship—that is—until she meets a talented chef named Michael (Ewan). And this is where it gets interesting. I'll let the official synopsis take over from here:
While Susan and Michael are experiencing new and unforeseen depths of feeling, all around the world people are also beginning to feel strange—something is affecting the emotions. Susan and Michael find themselves embarking on a sensual adventure, experiencing head-spinning, stomach-tightening moments of pure connection. Is this because they are falling in love or is it because the world is falling apart?
Indeed, the trailer portrays a seemingly straightforward love story until Susan asks Michael to reveal a secret to her no one else knows. Cue the ominous music. Quick-cuts show Michael crying, throwing things at walls and pleading with Susan to "come back to me." What's going on exactly? We don't know, but we're dying to find out.
