Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester Rock 'Country Strong' Red Carpet

When it comes to country music style, we've come to expect big, bold and beautiful, but the celebs who stepped out at last night's special L.A. screening of "Country Strong" were anything but over-the-top. (Of course, they totally had beautiful covered!) The stars of the movie, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Leighton Meester arrived in understated looks and were joined by a slew of guests. Unfortunately, not everyone delivered a strong (excuse the pun!) red carpet showing. Keep reading to find out which looks we loved and which ones call for a fashion intervention.

First off, if you were able to tell the difference between Leighton and Minka Kelly in the pictures above then kudos to you, because we definitely had to look at the credits. The girls (who are starring in the upcoming flick "The Roommate") look so much alike! We think it's because Minka appears to be channeling "Gossip Girl"'s Blair Waldorf (a.k.a the character Leighton plays), and we must say it's working for her. Minka looked fab in an embellished gray dress. We thought the cut looked great on her and loved that she didn't go too far with the studs. Also, the nude shoes were the perfect contrast!

As for Leighton, she and Minka may resemble each other, but their styles couldn't be more different. L arrived in a short, pink Christian Dior frock that seemed much more appropriate for a summertime stroll in the park, minus the platforms of course. Speaking off those shoes, we can't understand why Leighton paired her pink dress with orange shoes, but it's totally not working for us.

While Leighton wore a bright color to the premiere, "Country Strong" star Gwyneth arrived in an all-out-white Emilio Pucci. We thought Gwyn looked sleek (and we liked the hair!) but felt her boatneck dress could have been more fitted, and we didn't care much for the side-slit or the asymmetrical cut in the back.

Fellow blond Faith Hill was the ying to Gwyneth's yang, arriving in an all-black romper. Now, don't get us wrong, we love rompers, but the shoulder-baring upper-half just wasn't working for us.

Speaking of looks we didn't love, Kristin Cavallari was also in attendance last night, flaunting a long, strapless brown gown that seemed a little too tame for the former "Hills" star. We would have preferred Kristin in something shorter and brighter.
