‘Breaking Dawn’ News: The Denali Coven Is Cast

(From left to right: MyAnna Buring, Mia Maestro, Casey LaBow and Christian Camargo)

It may have taken a while to happen, but now the “Breaking Dawn” casting news is coming fast and furiously. Summit Entertainment must have been working hard at keeping this one covered up, because today The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog announced that the entire Denali coven has been cast.

This fleshes out the news from earlier this week that “Lost” star Maggie Grace had been cast as Irina, the rebel from within the Denali coven’s ranks. The actors cast as Eleazar, Carmen, Tanya and Kate are relatively unknown, but are sure to be catapulted into fame thanks to their involvement in “The Twilight Saga.”

MyAnna Buring, best known for her leading role in “The Descent,” has been cast as Tanya, a vampire who once had an interest in Edward Cullen, but was turned down by him. Casey LaBow, who played Candy Boyce in Ashley Greene’s “Skateland,” has been cast as Kate, a vampire who has the special ability to produce an electric current over her skin and who befriends Bella in the second half of “Breaking Dawn” to help her understand her own ability. Tanya, Kate and Irina were all sisters who were turned by the since-deceased vampire Sasha.

The two other members of the Denali coven, Eleazar and his mate Carmen, will be played by Christian Camargo and Mia Maestro respectively. Carmen is notable for being the first of the vampires the Cullens summon to tell about Renesmee being half-vampire, half-human, and Eleazar is a former Volturi guard who has the ability to identify the special abilities of other vampires. Christian is best known for playing Rudy Cooper, the serial killer who ends up being Dexter’s brother, in the first season of “Dexter,” and Mia played Nadia Santos in “Alias.”

The Denalis are reputable for being the only other vegetarian vampire coven and for their friendship with the Cullens. They were featured heavily in “Midnight Sun,” the retelling of “Twilight” from Edward’s perspective because he spent time with them while he was absent from Forks during the beginning of the Saga.
