Deadline broke the news that Chloe had landed the lead, and quoted creator Rob Reger as saying, “When I first met Chloe I knew I found my Emily. She really identifies and understands the character, and has what it takes to bring her to life.”
The film doesn’t have a writer or director attached to it yet, and is still very early in the development stages. Dark Horse Entertainment has been developing the film since 2008, which was just recently picked up by Universal.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on the top-secret storyline, reporting, “The aim is to tell the origin of the punk and gothic figure [Emily] and her four cats: troublemaker Sabbath, schemer Nee-Chee, imaginative Miles and leader Mystery.”
Chloe is going to be a very busy lady over the next few months (likely years). “Let Me In” is just about to be released, she has been seen on set in Martin Scorsese’s “The Inventions of Hugo Cabret” and is also attached to the drama “The Fields.” Then there’s always those rumors about Chloe possibly being cast as the lead character Katniss Everdeen in the much-anticipated big screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games.”
Are you excited to see Chloe as “Emily the Strange”? Are you glad she is being cast in all these projects?
