Were you ever extra-curious about why tomorrow's Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman comedy switched its name from "The Baster" to "The Switch"? We really weren't. The first title elicits a certain imagery Hollywood probably didn't want their viewers to be picturing — and then being put off by — when considering weekend movies.
But Jason wasn't afraid of facing up to the basting process the film teases. He willingly explained how a baster ties in to artificial insemination when MTV News caught up with him recently.
"The basting process is one where a baster, which is an injecting item, needs to be placed firmly inside the female to introduce an element that may create a child," he explained matter-of-factly. Fortunately for all of us, Jason isn't an expert on the issue. "Unfortunately, no. I do not have any hands-on experience; it was just explained to me in theory," he said.
Jennifer wasn't willing to give away any of the details of the actual baster scene in the film, but she said it's definitely something for all of us to look forward to.
"Well, you can't really give that away, because that's one of those scenes in the movie, when I say I laughed out loud, I laughed out loud [when I read it in the script]," she said. "It's one of those things where you go, 'They did not just ... that did not just happen. Really?' And then, 'How is he going to get out of this one?' It's again, one of the things that made me laugh hysterically about this movie."
Are you glad they changed the name of the film from "The Baster" to "The Switch"? Is the basting scene something you're looking forward to seeing on the big screen?
