Cam Gigandet Says Minus Vampires, 'Priest' Is 'Very, Very Different' From 'Twilight'

Any movie that stars both Cam Gigandet and Stephen Moyer has us sold, but the fact that "Priest" is also about vampires really put our excitement over the top. Anyone looking forward to Cam playing a role similar to that of James in "Twilight" should continue to hold their breath, though, because he told us at Comic-Con that the only thing "Priest" has in common with "Twilight" is that there are vampires.

"It's very, very different from 'Twilight,' " he said. "The similarities kind of end with what they're called, which is vampires."

He added, "The world [director] Scott [Charles Stewart] created is kind of unlike any other. Sometimes it was hard to visualize what he had in his mind, but I've seen clips, and its unbelievable. ... Just to work with all of these people, they're such an amazing cast. I didn't have any doubts [about taking on another vampire-related role]."

The biggest difference between James and Cam's character in "Priest" is that he is not in fact a vampire. "I play Sheriff Hicks," he said. "I'm the sheriff of a small town where my girlfriend gets kidnapped by this pack of vampires, so I enlist Paul Bettany's, Priest's, help, and we are on the road to find and rescue her."

Unfortunately, Cam's love story isn't the main element of the film, which we guess is okay because he is sharing screen time with Stephen and Karl Urban. "Priest" is set to hit theaters in 2011.
