It’s a good thing Katy Perry got some practice at last Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, because it looks like this “California Gurl” will be taking over the stage at this year’s Teen Choice Awards — and she’s not only performing, but she assuming hosting duties as well.
According to a release, Katy will host the big event, which is set to air on Monday, Aug. 9 (8:00p.m. ET) on Fox. As we know, TCA uses surfboards as its trophies and typical categories include Choice TV Villain, Choice Scene Stealer and Choice Country Music Artist (that one's new to this year's show).
August is already shaping up to be a big month for Katy, as she will release her next album that month, Teenage Dream, which features "California Gurls." She'll also soon begin production on "The Smurfs" — the CG/live-action movie adaptation in which she'll voice the character Smurfette.
"My mom wouldn't let me [watch the show when I was younger]," Katy recalled to MTV News' on the Movie Awards' red carpet. "She thought that Smurfette was a little bit slutty being the only female in the village. Now I showed her! I called her up and was like, 'Guess what, mom? I'm Smurfette!'"
The full list of performers and presenters for Teen Choice 2010 will be announced soon, and we’ll keep you posted on all the details!
