It turns out, about a week and a half ago, CBS Films made the surprising (or not) announcement that they would be moving back the release date of “Beastly” partly because Zac’s “Charlie St. Cloud” was moved to the same release day. According to the LA Times, however, it was also “to wait for the Feb. 18 release of ’I Am Number Four,’ a science-fiction thriller that stars Alex Pettyfer.”
When speaking with Sway and Snooki on the red carpet, Vanessa was asked about presenting an award — Best Male Performance — and the “Beastly” date switch (press play above to see the moment). They unfortunately didn’t ask about when the film’s release would be moved, but we now know (thanks to Just Jared) it will be March 18, 2011.
While Vanessa didn’t tell the MTV News reporters much else, she said that she hoped her fans would be stick with them through the moved release date, and we hope so too, since CBS Films moved the film specifically because fans were concerned about Zac and Vanessa’s films being released on the same date. Here’s the full Facebook announcement they made about it on May 25:
Beastly fans-You guys are awesome-so we wanted to make sure you were the first to hear the official news, Beastly is moving off of July 30th. We’ve been hearing from fans, so we know that having both Zac and Vanessa’s movies opening on the same day could be a real dilemma for people, so we are moving Beastly. We’ll keep you posted on all the latest, so keep checking back here for all things Beastly.
Fortunately for Zac, he didn’t get the same line of questioning from Sway when he entered the red carpet.
Are you guys glad both films aren’t being released on the same date? Will you see both “Beastly” and “Charlie St. Cloud” when they’re released?
