Jodelle is soft-spoken and polite, and based on the behind-the-scenes footage in the clip, she is very good at cowering in fear. She also has a friendly smile, which becomes a little unnerving when she grins while wearing her red contacts.
“Even though [Bree’s] on the bad side, she doesn’t really want to be,” Jodelle said of her character. “She’s sort of forced to be, and she doesn’t understand it. She’s just going along with it so she’s safe. The army of newborns come to attack the Cullen family, and she’s with them.”
We already know that Stephenie Meyer trusted Jodelle as Bree enough to let her read the 192-page novella while filming, but she praised Jodelle even more in the video, saying, “It’s going to be great to see her as the character. She brings such a vulnerability and she really understands the backstory for Bree that’s not actually in ’Eclipse.’ She gets the vulnerability. This person is waking up in a new life and is confused and suspicious, but doesn’t know what to do except follow what she’s being told.”
Jodelle also mentioned that she thinks Bree is misunderstood. “It’s sad because even though she’s on the bad side, she’s a victim. Bree’s not really given a chance. She wants to be good, but nobody gives her a chance. She doesn’t know the rules. How can you follow rules that you don’t know?”
