'Vampire Diaries' Star Katerina Graham On Bonnie's Witchy Future: Big Challenges Are On The Horizon

It feels like an eternity since our favorite CW vampires series stalked the airwaves, but hopefully with Hollywood Crush's plethora of "Vampire Diaries" interviews, casting news and sneak peeks, the wait hasn't caused you to go screaming into the night. I think we can all agree that tonight's return (and cliff-hanger resolution) will be a welcomed event. So what can we expect for the back-half of the season? MTV News recently spoke with star Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie on the series, and she spilled a bit about what's to come for her witchy character.

"Bonnie is definitely going to be faced with some challenges that she was not expecting," Katerina divulged. "And in order to protect her family and her friends, she's going to have to make some decisions that are going to test her and Elena's friendship. And she's going to have to be either really be there for her or take a step back."

Before the hiatus, we discovered that Bonnie's ancestor shared a pact with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) Salvatore—one the teenager broke with her newly realized supernatural powers. How much love will be lost between Bonnie and the eldest Salvatore brother?

"I don't know if it's more trepidation than a grudge," Katerina said about Bonnie's feelings toward Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley). "I think that Bonnie just wants everyone to be OK, to be safe, and she doesn't want anything bad to happen to her friends and her family.

It's more of a, 'Maybe they're OK, maybe they're not.' "

One relationship Katerina doesn't have to worry about is that between the cast and the crew. "I knew that if the show was going to make it, it was gonna be a great success because one the way it's written. It's not just written like a vampire show. It talks about relationships. ... We have a bigger demographic than you would think," she explained. "I also knew the way we are on set, there's something special about us. There was something special about the producers and the writers and the way we click together. I've never experienced that on a set before and I knew if we were successful, a lot of the reason would be because we are such a unit."
