The charming (yet potty-mouthed!) British actor Matthew Goode will have us running to the movie theaters this weekend to check him out in the new rom-com, "Leap Year," where he'll be starring alongside Amy Adams. But, he's had our heart for a while, uh mostly thanks to his accent. In case you can't tell: we love a guy with an English accent.
Press play on the video below to see more of Matthew, and then keep reading for more details about him.
Vital Stats: The 31-year-old grew up in Devon, England and he studied drama at the University of Birmingham and later at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. He's the youngest of five (!) siblings and his dad was a geologist and his mom was both a nurse and was an amateur theatre director. We're sure she's proud of her thespian son!
Matthew has a longtime girlfriend, Sophie Dymoke, and the two had a baby girl, Matilda Eve, born last March. Regarding his status as our latest Hottie, he said, "That's good isn't it? I'm sure my other half will be thrilled to hear that. I'm a Hump Day Hottie. That could be the highlight of my career," he joked. "Oscars suck! Hump Day Hottie get me in there!"
Where you might have already seen him: He first caught our eye as Mandy Moore's dashingly hot love interest in "Chasing Liberty." Before long, he had us going to the cinema to see him in flicks like "Match Point," "Watchmen" and most recently the Oscar buzzed about "A Single Man." He's also starred in the very, very British "Brideshead Revisited."
Why you should take notice of him now: This week he'll be giving Amy Adams a run for her money and love at the theaters in his new rom-com, "Leap Year." Will Amy pick him over her BF? We would! Does he think that a woman should run off to Ireland to propose to her beau just because the "Leap Year" allows it? Why not!
When it comes to his role as the witty Declan in the flick he said, "I'm maybe not quite as surly. I'm not quite that cantankerous. Then again I haven’t had my heart shattered by my best mate eloping with my girl and long may that never f***ing happen to me. But we're not miles apart either. I'm a little more English."
He will next be seen in "the lovely" Ricky Gervais' next flick, "Cemetery Junction." However, Matthew is currently just looking forward to learning the guitar. "I've got all the f***ing time in the world I don’t know why I haven’t. It's going to be my present to myself for my next job to get a really nice guitar and the books like 'Guitar for Idiots.' I don't play!" he joked. "But I'm gonna!"
Until next Wednesday, when we nominate yet another Hump Day Hottie, you can gawk at Matthew and the rest of our past HDH's by clicking on his photo below!
