“It wasn’t really developing into anything, and wasn’t going to, so they decided they were better as friends,” a friend of Swift tells the magazine.
The pair have been seen all over the country together hanging out and going on dates, the most infamous of which included her hugging him at one of her shows in Chicago in October. Although neither of them ever officially confirmed their relationship, Swift did wink at him during her opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live” and Lautner subsequently came to Swift’s hypothetical rescue from Kanye West during his own hosting stint on “SNL” as well.
Lautner recently went down to Nashville to attend Swift’s 20th birthday party, but it seems that was the beginning of the end of the relationship. “He liked her more than she liked him,” the source added. “He went everywhere he could to see her, but she didn’t travel much to see him.”
The exes plan to stay friends, which may be good for Lautner since Swift is known to write songs about her exes. Remember that ditty about Joe Jonas? And, friends told Us that the “hopeless romantic” Swift will likely reunite with Lautner while the pair promote “Valentine’s Day,” which will be out just in time for the actual Valentine’s Day holiday. Ah, young love!
