Robert Pattinson Admits Embarking On Films Outside 'Twilight' Is 'Scary'

Having been heralded to fame by the "Twilight Saga" and the once-fledgling Summit studio behind the mega-successful franchise, Robert Pattinson can't help but wonder sometimes if it's all just a fluke. "I've only done one movie outside of the 'Twilight' series, 'Remember Me,' "Rob recently said about his first post-fame project with Emilie de Ravin and Pierce Brosnan. "But even that I did with the same studio, so I guess I'm still a little bit blind as to what my actual economic viability will be outside of the series."

Robert will be testing that "economic viability" with several projects throughout 2010 including the Guy de Maupassant adaptation "Bel Ami" with Uma Thurman and the Western "Unbound Captives," which the actor discussed recently with MTV News.

"I'm doing—I hope—a western with Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman called 'Unbound Captives' sometime [next year]," Rob said. "They've got to try and juggle things around until everybody's schedules work."

Rather intentionally, the British heartthrob picked a role that couldn't be further from his dashing vampire alter ego Edward Cullen. "I'm playing a kid who was kidnapped by Comanche [warriors] when he was four years old. And he was brought up by them, and then his mother [played by Oscar-winner Rachel] spends her entire life trying to find me and my sister," he explained. "When she finds us, we can't remember who she is, and can't remember anything about the western culture which she grew up in."

Rob snagged the plum role before "Twilight" hit it big in 2008, but he admits that his new-found fame adds an extra layer to any project he now takes on. "Before 'Twilight' I did any movie that I got [offered], and you'd try and make the best of it afterward," he explained. "But now you're expected to come into the movie and provide not only economic viability, but also a performance as well. You can't just mess around. People are like 'We're employing you to be here, as a star and an actor.' It's difficult, and it's scary."

Are you excited to see Robert Pattinson take on a very different role in "Unbound Captives"?
