Spotted: Rihanna And Shakira Celebrating Their Striking Magazine Covers

By Nuzhat Naoreen

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

It's been a busy couple of weeks for Rihanna. The singer has been jetting between interviews — including an emotional sit down with "20/20" anchor Diane Sawyer, in which she opened up about her abusive relationship with Chris Brown — while also promoting her new album Rated R, which comes out in a little over one week.

But amidst all the chaos, the Rock Nation princess, got some much deserved recognition Monday night at Glamour magazine's "Woman of the Year" ceremony in New York. Rihanna, who recently told Glamour that she hopes to be a voice for domestic violence, attended the event where she was honored, along with other women (i.e. Michelle Obama and Serena Williams) wearing a cascading couture evening gown by Stephane Rolland. Needless to say, she looked stunning!

"Can Shakira Conquer the World?" Rolling Stone asks on its new cover featuring the "Hips Don't Lie," singer. We certainly wouldn't be surprised! The sultry star stepped out on the town yesterday, in a sequined blazer, white-tee and jeans to celebrate her cover at the Bowery Hotel in New York City.

In the issue, which is on newsstands now, Shakira opens up about her desire to have children. My body feels like it is asking to reproduce," she tells the magazine. She also discloses where the phrase "hips don't lie" originated from — apparently it's her barometer for judging a good song, if her hips aren't moving, the music isn't working!

Check out who else MTV Spotted!, including "American Idol" star Katharine McPhee also at the "Women of the Year" event and the cast of "Glee" at the movies.
