"I want to look nothing like myself," she told MTV News from the set of the sketch comedy show. "I told all the writers, 'Don't count anything out.' I want to go completely, 100 percent in. I don't want to be halfway involved. Just because I have a lot of things to do as far as being musical guest and host doesn't mean I don't want to live up to my full hosting demands."
Taylor is no stranger to chameleon roles, having donned camo and chains for her "Thug Story" performance at this year's CMT Awards, not to mention her bitchy brunette cheer captain role in the video for "You Belong With Me." So what sort of characters can we expect from Taylor? If her favorite "SNL" performer is any indication, perhaps a quirky Target lady?
"I think my favorite things on 'SNL' are the things that Kristen [Wiig] does, where she's these incredible characters that you've seen in real life," Taylor said. "Everybody's been at the party with the Penelope character to some extent."
Taylor is already getting laughs alongside "SNL" regular Bill Hader in a series of promos for this weekend's show. In one, Bill tells Taylor that Kanye West is on the line and thinks Beyonce should host instead. In another, Bill, meaning to show Taylor a cell phone picture of his baby girl shows her something very, very different. Check out the entire series of clips on Hulu.
