We've already brought you action ("Zombieland" sisters), comedy ("Hangover" beards), sci-fi ("Star Trek" lovahs), and vampire ("New Moon" Volturi member Jane) Halloween costume ideas, so to wrap up Dress Like a Movie Star week, Hollywood Crush decided to get a little more glamorous. Early this year, Isla Fisher charmed audiences as Rebecca Bloomwood in "Confessions of a Shopaholic." Maybe it was her knack for physical comedy, her ability to be ditzy yet impossibly adorable at the same time or her fantastic style — whatever it was, Isla managed to get us to like the financially irresponsible Rebecca.
The debt-laden fashionista gave financial guidance to the readers of her magazine column, but didn't heed her own advice in real life. Thankfully, you don't have to go deep into debt to recreate Isla's fashion-forward wardrobe. There are plenty of gorgeous looks from the movie to copy, but we think this colorful canary yellow look (pictured above) one the best.
Though we're all for staying frugal, unless you happen to have a long yellow pea coat lying around your house, you're probably going to have to splurge on outerwear. The good news is that it's practically winter, so you'll look fabulous wearing your new purchase long after Halloween has come and gone. We're absolutely loving this funnel-neck wool version from Urban Outfitters for $158. Because the coat pretty much makes the outfit, you have your pick of black and white dresses to wear underneath. We recommend this simple knit frock from Forever 21 for only $25.
Though Rebecca accessorizes the coat with a black and white patterned scarf, we think it'll be much more "Shopaholic"-appropriate to wear the green scarf that she purchases at the beginning of the movie. Costume designer Patricia Field sells a copy of the crinkly chiffon scarf on her website for $68, but the more budget-conscious among us might want to go for this lightweight metallic scarf from Old Navy for just $13. Next, slip on a pair of mustard gloves (these sheepskin ones from Target for $18 will do) and stash your lip gloss in an emerald clutch (try this Jessica McClintock bag for $31).
With some loose curls, a pair of flashy heels, and a few Henri Bendel shopping bags, you're good to go. If you live in New York City, you might be able to go to the fancy store and beg a compassionate-looking salesperson for a a few. If not, get handy with a ruler and a brown marker and draw those trademark vertical stripes on a plain white paper bag yourself. Voila! "Shopaholic" chic for cheap.
