Just as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday... even celebrities. Here at Birthday Bash, it's our mission to salute the fine actors, filmmakers and other Hollywood heroes that are celebrating their special day this week. After all, it's cheaper than mailing a cake!
This week, we're singing Happy Birthday to two notable musicians, while an Oscar-nominated actor also joins in on the fun.
Zac Efron (October 18): Whether you're still in high school or way past that era, you're undoubtedly familiar with the "High School Musical" franchise, which features the vocal stylings of one of Birthday Bash's latest subjects, Zac Efron. The singer-actor turned 22 years-old on October 18, putting Zac well past high school age and on the precipice of a young actor's Hollywood career path.
Indeed, Zac has already had starring roles in "Hairspray" and "17 Again," with his sights set towards the geek genre with the eventual "Jonny Quest" movie. At this early stage in his twenties, his career is sure to sing as the years go on.
Viggo Mortensen (October 20): Don't let the fact that acclaimed actor Viggo Mortensen has already broken past age 50 turn you off — his performances in films such as "A History of Violence" and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy prove that this actor is anything but past his prime.
While his upcoming role as a father suffering through a post-apocalyptic world in "The Road" isn't likely to be particularly crush-worthy, it's very possible that his performance will have you in tears regardless. Still, Mortensen is a pretty intense actor that picks very intense movie roles — it couldn't hurt to see the guy in a romantic comedy or two, could it?
Zac Hanson (October 22): Not to be confused with the other Zac featured in this week's Bash, Zac Hanson — also a singer, also celebrating a birthday this week — is much better known for his role as the youngest member of Hanson, a musical act that consisted of three young brothers that thrived in the 90s and still exists today.
Of course, Zac himself has plenty to be excited for beyond his musical achievements. Just last year, the young musician and his wife Kate welcomed their son John Ira Shepherd Hanson into the world. With Shepherd just over one years old, I have a hunch that Zac's drumming abilities aren't the only form of percussion currently in the Hanson household.
