It was a dark (though not so stormy) night yesterday in L.A. when hosts of creepy creatures collided for Spike TV's 2009 Scream Awards. Held at the Greek Theatre, the awards ceremony honored the best in sci-fi, fantasy, comics and horror. Though the show doesn't air until Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 10 p.m., we got to peek the fittingly dark fashions.
"New Moon" star Taylor Lautner was on hand to receive his Best Male Breakout Performance role for "Twilight," wearing what is quickly becoming his signature look — a black leather jacket, t-shirt and dark-wash jeans.
Though the buff 17-year-old was the only representative from his vampire saga, a bunch of bloodsuckers from the CW series "Vampire Diaries" stalked the red carpet, including the brothers Salvatore (Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder), who looked casually cool in their dark jackets and t-shirts. Costar and soon-to-be vampire Kayla Ewell rocked an asymmetrical magenta frock while Nina Dobrev donned a Alice+ Oliva LBD with a touch of purple. Another cast out in full force were the stars of HBO's "True Blood," who took home several black spikes of their own (hopefully they don't trip and fall on them!) Stephen Moyer, who along with his grey polo and dark jacket, was carrying a cane because of a torn miniscus took home the Best Horror Actor award while on- and off-screen love Anna Paquin won the Best Horror Actress award, looking elegant in her plum Marc Jacobs zipper dress. Co-star Alexander Skarsgård also scored a trophy, though the Swede raised more eyebrows with his affectionate behavior towards "Straw Dogs" costar and presenter Kate Bosworth.
Perhaps embracing the evening's theme the best was "Transformers" star Megan Fox who sported a blood red Martin Grant halter dress and a sophisticated up do. The frock must have been her good luck charm seeing as the hottie took home the Best Sci-Fi Actress award for her role in the summer blockbuster.
