We Celebrate Rachel McAdams, Matt Damon And Brandon Routh In This Week's Birthday Bash!

Just as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday... even celebrities. Here at Birthday Bash, it's our mission to salute the fine actors, filmmakers and other Hollywood heroes that are celebrating their special day this week. After all, it's cheaper than mailing a cake!

This week brings celebrations for a not-so-mean girl and an amnesiac action hero. Plus, you'll believe a man can fly — and enjoy a birthday cake, too!

Rachel McAdams (October 7): Whether you know her for "Wedding Crashers" or "Mean Girls" — heck, whether you're male or female — chances are exceptionally high that you've fallen in love with Rachel McAdams in one form or another. The sweet faced actress can easily dabble between mean-spirited and happy-go-lucky, with a whole range of emotions in between.

Recently, Rachel traveled into the depths of science fiction with "The Time Traveler's Wife," but that's not her only starring role in a movie where time is a relative quantity — we can't forget "The Notebook," the decades-spanning romantic epic that won over the hearts of moviegoers everywhere in 2004.

Matt Damon (October 8): As the extraordinary super spy Jason Bourne, actor Matt Damon proved to audiences the world over that he can play much more than the smart alec type he perfected in "Good Will Hunting" and "Rounders" — and with every subsequent role since Bourne, he's demonstrated that he's much more than an action hero, as well.

Indeed, Matt has many facets to his acting game, seen by his villainous performance in the Oscar-winning "The Departed." Even more recently, he kicked it up another notch as a bumbling everyman in "The Informant!" With this amazing ability to constantly reinvent himself, Matt will be a bright fixture in Hollywood for many years to come.

Brandon Routh (October 9): It's hard to live in this day age without knowing who Superman is — particularly given the recent boom in comic book like "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man" — and right now, Brandon Routh is the face of the Man of Steel... though with plans for a reboot of the "Superman" franchise, that might not hold true for long.

But don't feel too badly for Brandon, as the actor still has plenty of comic book properties to hang his hat on. He'll next be seen as Dylan Dog in "Dead of Night," followed by a role as the vicious vegan psychic Todd Ingram in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." While he's well-suited for the Comic-Con crowd, hopefully it won't be long before Routh flies towards other movie genres as well.
